88 Fortunes and its gold symbol ladder

Progressive jackpots got one line in the old write-up, and then it stopped. What it didn't mention is how the bet works, and on 88 Fortune that's the part worth understanding. The logo on the reels says 88 Fortunes, with a smiling boy and girl holding red scrolls either side of a lidded gold bowl.

Choosing gold symbols

Down the left side is a ladder of five orange buttons labelled CREDITS. One gold symbol costs 8 credits, two cost 18, then 38, 68 and 88 for all five. Under it, BET PER SPIN sets the value, x0.10 in all our shots, so the TOTAL BET box shows 0.80 at the lowest step. At the top left an ACTIVE SYMBOLS panel shows small icons of the symbols in play, with ALL UP greyed out at the end.

On the right are four jackpots, GRAND, MAJOR, MINOR and MINI, each with a padlock over its value. The screens don't spell it out, but the locks and the ladder suggest each extra gold symbol opens another jackpot level. We only ever see the one-symbol bet, so we can't confirm it.

Symbols and ways

The side of the reels reads REEL WAYS and a note at the top says there are 243 ways to win, so symbols pay on neighbouring reels from the left in any row. The pictures are Chinese luck charms: a bronze gong in a green frame, a red sailing junk, a stack of silver ingots, a gold turtle, a jade phoenix, a square-holed coin and a red tile with the fu character. The card letters go from 9 to A. A scrolling message in another shot says three or more scatters in a row give 10 free spins.
